Tiedemannís Diving Center is proud to offer an exciting new program designed for the diver that wishes to ultimately take their diving beyond the Recreational level.
Our new Intro to Tech (Introduction to Technical Diving) Course introduces the diver to the equipment, skills and expertise required to transition into technical diving. This course is required as a preparatory course for our Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures courses.
The objective of this course is to familiarize students with technical gear configurations, enhance open water diving skills and introduce students to advanced gas planning techniques within a no-decompression context. Some of the skills covered in this program include: technical diving equipment, equipment streamlining and configuration, line reel techniques, lift bag deployment as a contingency up-line, anti-silting finning techniques, advanced propulsion techniques, buddy assistance scenarios, buoyancy and trim exercises, situational awareness, gas depletion drills, and more!
The skills you will learn during this course are guaranteed to challenge you, make you a more comfortable and competent diver and a more dependable buddy as you plan for deeper and more complicated dives.
The cost of this course includes a Student Workbook, lecture sessions which include video examples of the required skills, a pool class for equipment configuration, rigging and placement and a skills training and demonstration session during 3 dives at Dutch Springs on one day. Students are responsible for their own gas, entrance and charter boat fees.
Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a TDI Intro to Tech certification card.
This course has some additional equipment requirements, which are outlined in our Technical Training Courses Equipment Requirements page. However, we recommend that you Do Not purchase any equipment prior to the first evening of lecture, when we will review in depth all the necessary and acceptable equipment.
Prerequisites for this course include SSI Advanced Certification with Wreck Diving and Night Diving. This course is also a prerequisite for anyone interested in taking our Advanced Nitrox or Decompression Procedures courses.
